Food & beer in luggage

We're flying to Pisa later this week (with the evil ryanair) and are wondering if we'll be allowed to take cans of John Smiths, sausages & bacon to our friends out there. Does anyone know if we'll be allowed to take these in our hand luggage or (not the beer I suspect) in hold luggage?

there is restrictions on food and liquids in hand luggage..only prescription liquids

I did wonder about the beer. Any idea about food - I was assuming crisps & snacks would be okay but not sure about raw meat?

I think it'll be ok if you put them in your checked in luggage...

Thanks.

I always bring Spanish cured ham and chorizo back to UK when visiting family. I've taken it in both hold and hand luggage before. Never had any problems.

Because of liquid restrictions, you won't be able to take John Smiths in your hand luggage, unless you buy it in duty free.

Might there not be a potential exploding can problem with a can in the unpressurised hold? I'd make very sure to wrap any liquids in my suitcase in plenty of plastic bags just in case.

Watch out for the weight allowances though - you're only allowed 15kg with ryanair & beer is heavy.

You can take cans of beer in hold luggage, if they sell it once you are through the security checks you can put it in your hand luggage.

As for the raw meat well I don't think they like that.

So far I have found on websites that you can't bring meat products into the UK
