Things to do in Belgium with a toddler....?

Friend of ours is going to Belgium with their toddler this half term. Sailing to Ostende and then staying in Bruges (with visit to Ghent at some stage).

Is there anything around there worth not missing with a little one? Any good restaurants anyone can recommend?

can't say I really noticed a lot in Belgium for children. Mine liked seeing the chocolates being made in the chocolate musuem and tasting them. The actualy history bit was a bit dry for them though, dt1 said it a very loud voice, 'this is crap, mummy' I'm assuming he overheard someone!

There are horse and cart rides around the squares. Waffles are a must have.

There is also a seapark/dolphin place fairly local but haven't been there so can't comment.

We went to Brussels and took them on an open top tour bus,t hey liked that.

Oh and you can climb upo the bell tower. We didn't have time to do that, I'd like to go back again.
