What are the illuminations and pleasure beach like these days? I have happy childhood memories of eating fish and chips on a steamed up coach on church trips, but then we were easy pleased kids. If the pleasure beach is grotty or very expensive thought we might go to stanley park instead, have never been there so any advice would be appreciated.

It's booked. Thank you for your help - I booked the Fylde! Only 2 nights - miserable dp wouldn't do 3. Tightfisted!
So need to plan our visit now!
It says on louis Tussaurds that if you do tower first you can have 50% off tickets for waxworks.

How old is your dd3? There's a section at hte pleasure beach with rides for younger children, dd first went age 2 iirc.

Do you get half price for FY4 bubblerock?

sakurarose39 · 13/09/2008 13:06

we went in the summer - decided not to do the Pleasure beach as it seemed to be soooo expensive.
The Tower was good value - you pay to get in and then everything is free - the circus was FAB!! there are two performances a day - its long (about 2 hours) but amazing! chinese acrobats, hungarian jugglers, a troope from Russia, etc, and the "water finale" at the end.
The Tower is good even if it is foul weather too.
Have fun!

Tiger - I think so, here's the online application form. You can use a bill though as proof of address if you are going before your card arrives.

Agree that the circus is brilliant, I haven't seen this years but the others have been very good!

Ah people talking about Blackpool! lovely!
Do you still have your guest house Bubblerock?

bubblerock · 13/09/2008 13:16

I still live in it Deany, but It's deregistered - my Mum lives on the top floor and we have the other 2, works out to be a cheap way of living!

deanychip · 13/09/2008 13:20

ah, what a shame!
So do you work somewhere else now?
You should be in tourism for Blackpool i think!

bubblerock · 13/09/2008 13:25

lol - I have a shop now on Central Drive, but I've cut down my opening hours and will eventually be up and running online, the overheads of a Bricks and Mortar shop are ridiculous, although I will really miss seeing my customers when the lease ends in April

deanychip · 13/09/2008 13:59

What do you sell?

bubblerock · 13/09/2008 13:59

Pleasure Beach has kids go free during September! £54 for a family of 4 which isn't bad. In October it's £80!!

bubblerock · 13/09/2008 14:01

Plus size clothing (Evans etc..) I really enjoy it but once all the overheads are paid it's not worth doing!

deanychip · 13/09/2008 14:03

I got my wedding dress from a shop on central drive, not sure if the shop is still there now.

tryingtocookacurry · 13/09/2008 14:21

£80 is such a lot. Can we pay by ride? I'm sure we won't spend all our time there but might want to go on a few. I hate rides personally but ds loves them

bubblerock · 13/09/2008 14:44

I think you can just pay £5 to get into the park but if you want to go on rides you need a wristband. They used to do tokens but I'm not sure if they still do - or how much they would be. Maybe ring them they are usually pretty helpful.

Why don't you just go on the rides on Central Pier instead of The Pleasure Beach? They have Waltzers, Dodgems, big wheel, rides for little ones and the thing where you sit in a row and go up in the air. Not as good as the Big One though!

The wedding shop is still there - a bit further down the road from me.

deanychip · 13/09/2008 14:58

ah how lovely, happy memories!

Havent been down central drive for yonks, i tend to go to the cinema in Cleveleys now rather than central, i live in Thornton though so its nearer for me.

PinkChick · 13/09/2008 15:17

Hiya, we were there in aug, pay per ride costs approx £3..per person!..so £6-£9 if your dc want both of you to go on with thm like mine did!

Beach was nice on morning, tide came in on the afternoon and by late afternoon it was back out but when we went the beach (or rather the people who had been using it!) was disgusting..so sad!, USED nappies scatterd around..some people!..and there was a large family of asians sat eating thier lunch on beach, it was in polystrene dishes and something spicy and they all flung the trays onto the the beach when theyd eaten them despite atually sitting right next to a bin, so the flys and mess was disgusting..such a shame considering theyve spent so much money making the shore line look nice.

tryingtocookacurry · 13/09/2008 21:17

sorry to confuse tiger feet - it should have read dd(3) as in dd is 3 years old.
