We are going throught he same thought process lunavix and are in the process of trying to move to Canada.

Off the UK places mentioned so far I have had wonderful experiences of Leeds as it is a fantastic city, cool bars and restaurants, art galleries great shopping. Lovely housing, godd schools and the Dales on your doorstep.

Ohh Dp is considering Leeds! Apparently that was one of his choices (and Birmingham is on the list too...)

As true southerners I am concerned about moving so far north though... we'll be so far away from friends and family - we know noone norther than berkshire! Plus we won't know where's nice and I bet we end up in a scummy neighbourhood!

But if we stay here we'll never afford to buy a house. And tbh I don't want to live south forever.

tiredemaa - the whole 6 years I lived in Australia I told everyone how great bournemouth was. Then I moved back and I was like 'this is what I pined for???' It's nothing like it used to be, and I just wouldn't want to live there anymore.

I'm also worried we will get bullied for our silly southern accents

have you considered edinburgh? its very cosmopolitan, you hear a hundred different accents every day. its a small city, very compact, and feels homely. would definitely recommend it, lived there for 10 yrs.

Absolutely love living in Venice once you get used to the bizarre lifestyle!
