New Jersey Shores - any recommendations

We are hoping to go to New Jersey shores next year on holiday in July. Has anyone got any recommendations or ideas where to stay/go? Thanks in advance for your help.

We stayed in Cape May this year in July, which was fantastic. Lovely old fashioned beach resort with nice restaurants, good beach etc.

I would second the recommendation for Cape May - very laid back and upmarket compared to the rest but personally (depending on your age of children) I would spend some tme in Wildwood as well - great theme park piers and waterparks, boardwalk and a huge beach - oh and some really good architecture of the 20th century kind...
