nice but affordable accomodation in crete suggestions!?

Have enjoyed the 5 star luxury provided by grecotels...but next summer will need to budget more carefully.Daughters will be 10 and 4.We like a mix of nationalities and proximity to a good beach. Look forward to any recommendations.

What about Tersanas Village near Chania. Haven't stayed there but near good beach, has nice pool and restaurant and seems to have lots of kids of different nationalities staying. Don't know which UK tour operators do it though.
