does anyone know how to get to Edinburgh Zoo on public transport?

I'll be travelling in from Falkirk into Edinburgh by train then thought i'd take the bus from there. but which bus? the first bus website is distinctly unhelpful and travelline site is down.

So, which bus should I take? and How much will it cost (roughly)?

TIA!

I was going to say!
Train to Haymarket and then a bus back out to the zoo - dead easy!

lothian bus website better than first bus.

pointydog · 16/07/2008 12:06

oh aimsmums edinburgh zoo is WAY WAY WAY better than blair drummond.

the new chimp exhibit is a bit disappointing though. but the lorakeet house is cool!

buses are 12, 26 or 31. we took the 26. very straightforward. (except for the detour because of the tram construction) but other than confusing me a little it didn't effect our journey. AND lothian buses are only 1.10. cheaper than a journey in Falkirk!

all in all a great day!

has anyone seen any "free day out at the zoo" passes on Kelloggs boxes yet? I read about this on moneysaver.com but haven't seen any yet?

SirDigbyChickenCeasar · 17/07/2008 09:48

it was quite a while ago that they were on the cereal boxes. i haven't seen any in ages. but they are good for a year if you get one. i used one yesterday actually!

Blair Drummond is great, we love the sand play area with all the climbing and fun, I'd recommend it

to be fair when i went to blair drummond i was still only pregnant with my first and was all hormonal.
maybe with more kids (and less moodiness) it's better

the number 26 is every 5 mins outside haymarket station (every 15 on a sunday)

at the zoo there are a couple of new things - rainbow landings where you get to feed the parrots - my dds love this and i agree its fun
and the new monkey enclosure has just opened

I think you can get the First Bus from Falkirk directly to Edinburgh Zoo. It's the number 38. Check their website www.firstgroup.com/ukbus/scotland/sescot/home/to make sure. Don't know how much it will cost though.
Alternatively, as has been said, train to Haymarket, plus bus.
