Things to do with Children in Barbados

Looking for recommendations on what to do with young children aged 6 and 20 months ?

We are staying in Sandy Lane (which I think is on the West Coast) if anyone has stayed there, any family friendly restaurants also appreciated! Thank you

Love a stealth boast (fake) holiday thread. I mean I am sure there is nothing at all to do in the luxury 5* hotel on the beach in Barbados!

Firstly I would never judge anyone for the hotels or holidays they choose to go on with their own hard earned money if that's a 5 star hotel or a caravan site which we also frequently do. Im sure my 6 year old will prefer the caravan.

Secondly it's not fake 🤣 and it's not a stealth boast. I've never been before and was asking a genuine question.

I'm not sure how family friendly the hotel is hence me asking what's near by . I've been told the pool etc is not very catered for kids. It's a family holiday , we normally choose to stay in hotels/accommodation very catered for the kids.

But anyway , if you have nothing to add which you clearly don't move on.

Well it’s good enough for Simon Cowell and Sinitta and they’ve often been papped there with their children so I would assume there must be some child friendly activities ? It is a very high end hotel isn’t it?

Yeah it is , but our holidays are normally built around the kids, 6 year old loves a disco and a bouncy pillow in the pool. It's a family celebration so as amazing as the hotel itself is I don't think it's our normal vibe. I've been told the pool and beach are very zen and we are not very zen 🤣. Although it might be different as it is half term .

I was just looking for a few days out that might be good for them , as we probably won't be going back anytime soon, so wanted to try and get them out and about a bit other than beach/ hotel. I've been having a Google but thought I'd ask here.

I’ve stayed in the hotel next door to Sandy Lane. They’ve got a fabulous beach. However, I’m pretty certain that the hotel will have a long list of all its facilities. It’s in a very busy main road that isn’t advisable to walk along and there’s very little around it. Take them on the reggae bus up to Holetown - they’ll love the music and the aroma of weed!

Yes, chat GPT was telling me I will have to get taxis everywhere. Thanks so much for the recommendation, I'll definitely do that im sure my older one will love it !

There’s loads to do. We have been every year since our DS were babies. First of all you don’t need to take taxi’s everywhere but I strongly recommend that you hire a car with young children. The buses are great fun for older kids and stop right outside Sandy Lane.

There is a lovely park area at Folkstone National Park just north of Holetown. The glass bottom boats are lovely for snorkeling and swimming with turtles. The Atlantis submarine for your eldest. There is a lovely steam train ride at St Nicholas Abbey with rum tasting for the grown ups. There used to be a kids club at Sandy Lane but not sure now.

Regarding restaurants, all will have a kids menu and high chairs available. High end our favourites are Lone Star, Seashed, Tides and Fishpot. For more casual Zaccio’s is great. All are on the West Coast.

Friday night at Oistens is fun with great street food and a lively atmosphere.

You will love it, can’t wait for my trip in February.
