am I mad to be thinking about giving up one car and using the bus?

Due to current climate my car (people carrier as I'm a c/m) is costing me an arm and a leg! so am decding whether to sell it and use the bus. have got lealfets about times etc. there is one at the end of my road into town for £2.80 return.

So far my plusses are
MUCH cheaper
Healthier

Minuses
Days out with mindees

we'd probably sell dh's car as well and buy an estate as our family car. at a push i could take him to work in the morn and then have the car for my work (there's a chance he could car share some days too!)

what am i missing? why don't i just sell the damn thing and be done with! (can't sell till mid august as need big car for hols before tehn!)

We went down to one car a couple of years ago and it has been great ! We save lots of money an walk more, but we do have to plan more effectively. Sometimes DH cycles to work (10 miles) if I need the car. Sometimes ( maybe twice in the last year) when we have really needed two cars, we have hired one for a few days. Ocassionally we get a taxi somewhere. On the whole it has been great.

thanks! am doing my research! dh couldn't cycle - too far, too much to take (teacher!) roads not suitable (M4)! but car share might be an option!
