Corfu. Where to stay ?

We have flights to Corfu in September and would love thoughts on where to stay. We will spend some time in Corfu Old Town and perhaps a week in Paxos but after that ?

We’re an older couple, no kids who like to dine out and have a drink at local bars. Not a party resort but somewhere pretty would be nice. We were going to try and manage without a hire car but it looks like that will be too limiting.

Thanks in advance for any ideas.

Do you want to stay on Corfu or take a ferry to another island or the mainland?

If you’re staying on Corfu then Kassiopi is nice.

We will spend a week on Paxos and was looking for a couple of places on Corfu. Thank you for the Kassiopi recommendation. I read about it so it is good to hear first hand.

If you would like a village setting, I would recommend Liapades or Doukades. They both have places to eat and are pretty and traditional in the old parts. Liapades is on the hillside (out of sight of pirates) and you can walk down to Rovinia or Yefira beaches if you don't mind the walk up again. There is accommodation both up in the village and on the road down to the beach. You could manage without a car for a few days, walking and taking taxi boats up and down the coast.
Doukades is nearby, and is inland and you would need a car. There are several lovely tavernas around the square and you would enjoy village life bustling around the square.
I hope you have a lovely time!

Thanks @bluestripeymugthese sound really lovely. We like walking so not too worried about the hills.

Another suggestion for Kassiopi from me
The harbour is lovely. Very picturesque.

Paleokatristra is lovely. You definitely need a hire car.

We had a couple of very enjoyable holidays in Arillas. The resort is low key, has a nice beach and loads of locally owned tavernas.
