Xmas, Balearics or Canaries ?

We've not been to either, and fancy a change for Xmas week. Looking for pleasant weather, doesn't have to be hot.
We like to do things, not just laze around on holiday.
Don't want to be near discos etc, but good restos & quiet bars are for us.
Any suggestions which islands & resorts might suit us ?
And any recommendations for adults-only hotels ?

Thank you.

More reliable weather in the Canaries I think. Even In October it can be rainy in the Balearics.

Palma is great at Christmas. The rainy season is mostly over by then - it's generally wetter from mid-Oct to late Nov and then again from mid-Feb to late March. I would recommend it if you want a city break with walks, great nature, and being able to have lunch outside. Daily highs around 17° on clear days. But the rest of "holiday" Majorca is dead as a doornail at that time.

The Canaries will have the chance of beach weather, but it's not guaranteed and the sea will be very cold. Santa Cruz de Tenerife is a nice city but doesn't compare to Palma, for me anyway.

Morocco was lovely at Xmas - but of course Xmas is not celebrated there so it wouldn’t suit if you want a Christmassy break! Everything open and busy all over the Xmas period, we were in the desert on Xmas day 🌵🐪 Weather was lovely too, warm enough to sit out and chill or have lunch.

we also looked at palma but couldn’t find any reasonably priced accommodation - but we had left it late to book. I’d like to go there one Xmas.

Belearics will be cold and shut down in tourist resorts as out of season. Canaries will be much better weather and fully open, 365 destination, Christmas is peak, so you might struggle to find a suitable villa, these get booked up very quickly. We like Lanzarote, as very chilled, no high rise buildings other one in Arrecife. Main tourist resorts are Costa Teguise, Puerto del Carmen, Playa Blanca. Couple of smaller resorts Matagorda & Puerto Calero. We prefer PdC but they are all very nice.

Definitely any of The Canary Islands. All-year-round resorts and great weather throughout!

The Balearics will basically shut down for Christmas and the weather wouldn't be great either.

I have been to Majorca over Christmas. Everything was shut and it was dead which was great for us as we were cycling and had the roads to ourselves. The weather was pretty decent - sunny and about 15 degrees but cold at night
though the locals did say the week before had been constant rain so I think we got lucky.

I live in Mallorca (Pollensa) and whilst it is quiet, the weather isn’t normally that bad at Christmas. I’ve been paddling in the sea on Christmas Day before. It’s actually lovely here during the off season as it’s so quiet but still enough restaurants open. Palma would be better though - it operates all year round and is quite lively at Christmas.
