Just mentally planning dream holidays.

If you had £30k and three weeks, where would you go and what would you do?

Australia, touring around. Or Argentina and Brazil. Or Vietnam/ Cambodia. So many amazing places to go!

OneLimePombear · 22/06/2026 20:06

Japan or I’d like to see more of Africa.

PinkNBlueBunnies · 22/06/2026 20:06

Pacific island hopping.

KnittyKnotty · 22/06/2026 20:10

New Zealand (Australia too big for just 3 weeks).

I would travel Business Class to get there followed by hiring a motorhome and thoroughly explore both of the main islands.

WonsWoo · 22/06/2026 20:22

Japan for me too and/or New England

Wenttoaweddingonamonday · 22/06/2026 20:36

Alaska and Hawaii

TeamGeriatric · 22/06/2026 20:40

That's a huge amount of money for a single trip! I think I have 2 options: 1. Madagascar for 2/2.5 weeks and then end with a few days in the Seychelles. 2. Belize for 2/2.5 weeks including a side trip to Tikal (in Guatemala) and a few days in Orlando at Disney for the kids on the way home. I could probably only spend £30k (for 4 people) on either trip if we flew business class.

Unusualsuspects · 23/06/2026 22:05

Antarctica, it’s one of the few places I really want to go!

SallyAnnDrivesACar · 23/06/2026 22:27

A cruise round South America from Southampton. Make it 8 weeks.

DH and I had 3 weeks in NZ last year. We explored quite a lot on both islands but, even with 3 weeks we could really only do highlights

But no-one's saying you have to see the entire country. Any single trip is only ever going to see a tiny amount even in a small country.

When I saw the thread title my first thought was a lap around the whole of Iceland in a camper van. Or Japan.

Now its been mentioned, I also agree about Hawaii and Antarctica.

Also the Al Andalus luxury train tour. I think that's about £12k each so £30k would be enough for DP and I to go on that with money left over to add a couple of nights in the Alhambra Parador in Granada.

New York, Vegas, disney world

Twiglets1 · 24/06/2026 06:46

South Africa to go on an amazing safari, also to spend time in Cape Town and in the wine region.

StormGazing · 24/06/2026 06:52

First half is be exploring Canada, in the forests, out on the ocean seeing the wildlife. Then we’d go to Hawaii for some sun and fun over there!

Yiayoula · 24/06/2026 07:09

India 🩷

Flying business class, Oberoi hotels , in Agra it would be a suite at the Amarvilas with views of the Taj Mahal.
Safari - probably Ranthambore.
Nilgiri Montain Railway .
Ganges river cruise - in a suite, of course.
Kerala.

Not that I’ve given it much thought …..

I may need more than just three weeks !

suburberphobe · 24/06/2026 07:22

views of the Taj Mahal

I had that @Yiayoula. Roof top restaurant with view of the Taj Mahal except it was hazy due to the pollution.

The visit itself was amazing though.

Yiayoula · 24/06/2026 07:42

It’s breathtaking, isn’t it ,@suburberphobe.

My imaginary itinerary was partly inspired by our ( far less luxurious ) trip to India in 2004, and partly by one of Jane McDonald’s tv programmes.
Have been fascinated by India since my childhood.

Sidge · 24/06/2026 08:14

Ahh this is my lottery winning holiday plan; not all in one trip but all the places I’d love to visit if I had the time and money.

Canada
Japan
Central and South America
Start in Cambodia then travel down through Vietnam, Thailand, Malaysia and finish in Western Australia to see my family there. Home via Singapore and Sri Lanka.

WeddingInvitation · 24/06/2026 08:20

My post retirement plan is to buy a business class RTW ticket. South America , SE Asia and India.

ByQuaintAzureWasp · 24/06/2026 09:23

Galapagos islands

likimagee · 26/06/2026 10:43

California road trip, but would fly business.

minipie · 26/06/2026 15:03

Ooh let’s see

French Polynesia / other South Pacific islands & some of Aus/NZ

Sri Lanka & Maldives

Diving and snorkelling live aboard in Rajah Ampat, Komodo Island and then a v luxe resort to chill

That was my honeymoon ( a very long time ago!). A month long trip (albeit starting with Vegas and the Grand Canyon but then onto California).

It was amazing.
