My dad wants to go on holiday and has asked if we would like to join him, he wants to go on a boating holiday in the Norfolk Broads, DD will be 8 months old, she is very active, can crawl and pull up to standing and obviously has no sense on danger Will we have fun or will I spend the entire time trying to restrain dd?? What do you think? Anyone been brave enough to go on a boating holiday with a little one??

Personally I wouldn't go but that's because I had the worst holiday of my life on a boat on the Norfolk Broads! I just hated it, being penned in on a stupid little boat for days. I jumped ship three days early. But that's just me, I know a lot of people love it! More relevant to you is your baby and her safety, I really don't think you'd be able to relax.

a crawler is a nigthmare on a boat

too old to stay put in bouncy chair, too young to be interested in the experience of being on the boat, or to wear a lifejacket with grace.

say no thanks and go next year when she will love it

I don't think it is a good idea at all. We are big sailors and my dh says no to a sailing (or boating) holiday until children are old enough to know what danger is!

Mad.

beansmum · 24/06/2008 09:52

Don't do it! Wait until your dd is old enough for you all to actually enjoy it.

Thanks guys, think I'll wait till next year

That will be a nightmare! I don't know if there are better designs but we have had a number of goes at life jackets and small children and they just don't work. DD had a life jacket on in Mexico and her arms were stuck out and she could not move her head and screamed and screamed and screamed.....
