Somewhere warm and interesting at Christmas

Well, boxing day or the day after. Thinking of doing family hosting then getting away for a week. I want winter sun, with the choice to sightsee- history and culture. Any recommendations? 2 adults, no children.

Jordan. It's amazing. I spent a couple of weeks there over Christmas.

Short or long haul? There aren't a lot of places short haul that have good weather and cultural things to see. Canaries the obvious choice, but I see that as fly and flop and little else TBH, which is great if that's what you're after!

If you don't want to go long haul, you might have to compromise and just enjoy a nice relatively warm break in the Canary Islands and accept that while there are excursions you can take, they wouldn't be on a par with places like Italy, Greece etc. for history and culture. Southern Spain can be lovely around Christmas but weather is not guaranteed at all. I was there last Christmas and it was storm after storm, rain every second day, and very bloody cold! But we wrapped up and made the most of it.

Long haul, the choice is huge. Others will help you out there.

Thank you.
I'm thinking Agadir or that area. Anyone been? I went once in the eighties when my mum was going through her Hideous Kinky phase...
