Hi.
Looking for suggestions of where to go / stay in Portugal with a 9 year old.
Maybe near a water park and beach if possible. Somewhere nice.
Thanks for any suggestions.

Armaceo de Pera is a nice town/beach and not too far from Zoomarine. Will you have a hire car or relying on buses? Alvor is another lovely resort - it’s not over developed (well it wasn’t when we went) and has a huge beach.

Is it just you and the 9 year old? If so I’d look for a good child friendly hotel with plenty of activities/water slides maybe and choose based on that. They might meet other kids to play with. That said I’d probably avoid Praia de rocha area.

Would you consider Madeira? Have just been there with my 8.5 year old and we both loved it.

lots of options on the algarve to stay but at that age I’d recommend a day out to “slide and splash “. Mine were about 9 and 7 at the time and still talk about it 5 years on.
some hotels have a pass included

Thanks for the replies. I think we might go with Vilamoura or Albufera. Any recommendations of places to stay?
And we will definitely do a day out at the waterpark
