An EV in Italy?

We’re planning to hire a car for part of a big Italian trip this year, travelling from the Veneto through Emilia-Romagna, Tuscany, Umbria and Lazio. Given the choice I would rather have an EV as that’s what we drive at home and I much prefer them, but what is the charging infrastructure like at the moment? Are we likely to risk being stranded or to find a lot of non-functioning chargers?

That depends where you’re going. If you’re in the city you’ll be fine but further out the infrastructure isn’t well developed and you’ll have to plan journeys much more carefully than you would in an ICE car.

I’d go for a hybrid. Public charging stations exist but they’re few and far between.
In my Italian city you have to download an app and lots are abused as overnight parking spaces!
