I'm really hoping someone will help me I'm getting so confused. We were due to fly to Cuba next week but the travel advice has changed so we can't. We have booked accommodation and internal transfers with a UK travel agent, but flights separately, so it's not ATOL protected. We were booked Uk-Spain-Cuba with Iberia, and they have allowed us to cancel flights.
Checking the ABTA website it says ' In the event of the Foreign, Commonwealth & Development Office (FCDO) advising UK nationals not to travel to a given area, we expect all of our members to offer clients who are due to travel imminently to that destination, the correct options. Members might be able to offer you an alternative holiday. If they can’t, or if the alternative means a significant change to your original holiday, they must offer you a full refund of all money paid.'
My travel agent is saying the best he can do is a refund less 1000 pounds or change to the same dates in 2027. To me 2027 is a significant change but I feel I should have a refund due to the above ABTA guidance?
Am I being dense? could someone help me please, any advice would be gratefully received.
