Advice on child’s passport

Tinks15 · 16/02/2026 11:29

We fly to Rhodes in August & my daughter’s passport expires February 2027. The Government website states it must have at least 3 months left on it however I’ve been told it needs to have 6 months on it? August - February is right on 6 months. So unsure what to do?

Does anyone have any advice or could please confirm what is correct?

Renew it ?

For the EU you need 3 months remaining from your return date

It's 3 months but also it can't have been issued more than 10 years ago, that's the key point to check.

Just renew it now
pretty sure it’s three months from date of issue (from return date) as it’s Schengen but you have time to sort this now so I would

Edited

A child passport is valid for 5 years so will always meet this requirement

Thanks all. I’m getting married in Rhodes in August so have enough to pay out for 😂🫣so I’d rather not renew it if it don’t have to.

Honestly I’d renew if
I know it’s an expense but you don’t want the worry especially for your wedding!

Input her passport details into TUIs passport checker and tick Greece as the country.

The passport needs to be valid for 3 months from the date you leave Rhodes, so provided you plan to leave before November it's fine, no need to renew.
