Day Trip to Lake Como

I am planning a day trip to Lake Como later this year and am keen to avoid busy ferries etc. Looking at tours there seem to be loads of Lake cruises in lovely looking boats, but these generally do not stop to visit the towns like varenna. I love the idea of seeing the sights from the lake, but also want to have a bit of an explore. Has anyone done.similar in a private tour rather than independently getting the ferry from place to place. I'm keen to see the villas and villages but also have a potentially more relaxed experience. I realise that it will be extremely busy regardless. Any recommendations or suggestions most welcome. Thanks

When you say day trip, how much time do you expect to have?

In Como, I enjoyed the funicular railway but caught the first one of the day & saw the queues had built up quite a bit when I came back down.

I tried queuing for a tourist boat from Menaggio, but it filled up so quickly with annoying tour groups that there didn’t seen much point - I had a good time on the ferries between Menaggio, Varenna & Bellagio though. Cheaper & much less busy.

I don’t know how much that helps though.
