Majorca - where to stay

Planning a week in Majorca in May, just me and DP so nothing kiddy friendly. Never been before. Looking for an aparthotel rather than hotel room - want self catering with own kitchen. Would like a resort on the coast with some restaurants and shops nearby, up to 30 minute walk to larger town. Don't need much else apart from sun, pool and a beach nearby to walk along

Any resorts or areas of Majorca you would recommend? Ta

Just hopping on as I was after the exact same, I was looking at Port De Solier so it’s interesting that it’s come up.

Puerto pollenca is really nice, or also the port end of Alcudia. Been to both and loved them! Both ideal for a couples holiday!

Cala D'Or, Puerto Pollensa, Soller/Puerto Soller.

Avoid Santa Ponsa, Palma Nova, Maguluf and Alcudia like the plague Grin

I was just about to recommend the same three, although Puerto Pollensa is my favourite.

The Pine Walk sounds exactly like what OP is describing, although I can’t recommend any self catering.
Perhaps look for apartments along or near the pine walk

WTFiswrongwithworld · 27/01/2026 23:56

Cala D’Or. Lots of pretty bays, restaurants, night life but not too tacky .Cala Ferrara apartments are my happy place.

We've just booked Solecito Apartments in Alcudia with Onthebeach. They look really good

tanstaafl · 28/01/2026 09:05

Zafiro tropic or Garden ApartHotel ( across the road from each other ) in Port d’Alcudia.
Beach a couple of minutes walk.
old town Alcudia 20 minutes walk.

frequent cheap tap on/off buses locally to Puerto Pollenca and old town Pollenca where you must do the steps up to the old chapel El Calvari.

Port de Soller

I loved Cala d’or and can’t wait to go back. The beaches are stunning

I too was going to say Port De Soller.

There is a narrow gauge train that goes from there, through the hills and olive groves to Palma. We did it the other way and when we arrived at Port De soller, it was magical. A little market, boats, people swimming and lovely restaurants. We've stayed near Palma and if I went back, I'd definitely stay in Port de Soller. We caught a local bus back, rather than the train, because the timings suited us better, but you can get it both ways.
