I’m pregnant, due August. It’s possible for me to fly till mid-May. I also already have a 3yr old.

DH and I both have significant birthdays this year and had planned to do Caribbean/sri Lanka/New Zealand during the spring. We’d planned that pre-pregnancy but not booked anything.

We love holidaying with friends and would usually do 3-4 Eurocamp type holidays with friends throughout the year.

Do we:
a. Do a long haul, nice birthday even though I might not be able to do it all due to pregnancy
b. Stick with a Eurocamp early-season before I’m 28weeks and save the long haul nice holiday for the future.
c. Nothing whilst pregnant, wait till the autumn and do a Eurocamp or a villa then (with small baby) and no friends holidays this year.

Or have I missed something better? We are both self employed and can easily take holiday as and when. No specific budgets but I don’t want to fly to Caribbean etc and just stay in a hotel - we’d want to explore and do things.

I mean Caribbean or Sri Lanka or New Zealand, not do all three.

i’d do A and then maybe try and do a UK holiday with friends before baby is born but it really

I’d go to one of those destinations when you’re 5/6 months pg. You will have a great time. Just check for Zika and that they’re not problematic.

camping in the autumn with a toddler and small baby doesn’t sound like fun to me, but you may disagree!

I went to Jamaica when I was five months pregnant with my second and am so pleased I went as I didn’t fly long haul again until my third started school. I still did lots of excursions and adapted two of them to suit me.
I went in April and I had my baby in August.

PandaOrLion · 06/01/2026 14:58

thanks. This is my thinking - something April time long-haul. The main frustration is it’s the Easter holidays so the price is more than if we went earlier.

With the first pregnancy I was on a “no more than 30 mins drive from the hospital from 32weeks” so there a chance of that too this time. I don’t want to assume I’ll be able to travel for a uk holiday during June and July so I’d love to get away beforehand if possible.

It’s chalet/mobile home style so it’s better than real camping. Plus warm swimming pools and lots of playgrounds so parenting a toddler is very easy!

I went to South Africa at 20 weeks and Miami at 29/30 so needed a fit to fly. I’ve been lucky my pregnancy has been straight forward.

We’re looking at a long weekend at end of month before I can’t fly anymore.

We consciously chose zika free destinations as my research showed risk regardless of destination. May be worth speaking to your midwife.

MadridMadridMadrid · 07/01/2026 21:41

There is Zika virus in Sri Lanka, so I would cross that off your list.

minipie · 07/01/2026 21:52

Not NZ!! Not Sri Lanka either due to Zika

Caribbean should be perfectly possible. Why not March before Easter hols kick in?

hsfdfjyu7 · 08/01/2026 10:11

no suggestions to your trips but what Eurocamps have you done that you would recommend to toddler holiday with friends/family? Have you done any car free ones around Beziers/Perpignan/Girona you'd recommend.

chouxchoux · 08/01/2026 10:14

Caribbean is a Zika risk too...
