Skiathos - medical facilities

Has anyone been to Skiathos and can tell me if there are 24 hour medical facilities on the island please?

According to google maps there are a few 24 hour clinics but nothing that looks like a full scale hospital.

There are 24 hour medical facilities on Skiathos but no hospital. The nearest hospitals are in Volos (the closest to Skiathos) or Athens.

There is a clinic but if anything is badly wrong, it's ferry or helicopter....

We did an online consultation when we were there in August. That was very straightforward; it is an international website. Will see if I can find it. They gave us the prescription DD needed and we went and get it.

My DH became poorly on a holiday in Skiathos a few years ago. We found an excellent private medical centre who diagnosed him with a really nasty kidney infection. He was put on a drip and given antibiotics and stayed there for a few hours. He then returned to our hotel overnight but was asked to return the next day to administer more fluids/anti-biotics. They were so helpful and DH was able to continue with our holiday. We claimed it all back from our holiday insurance.

We've been going since 1999. Think of it like the Scilly Isles or the Orkneys. The locals literally move to the mainland to give birth.

However, for every day concerns, Skiathos Town has English speaking doctors and pharmacists (like most customer facing people) speak good English. Would be surprised if there’s anything outside of town but the island is so small that nothing is more than hour (max) from town.
