Hi - my 18 year old is planning her first holiday without us - she's going with a group of girls from college and Magaluf has been mentioned !!!!!
What is it like these days ? - there were some horror stories a few years ago about drunk girls getting coerced into all sorts of things - is it still that bad now ?

They really just need to be careful. My friend’s daughter went and came back with no issues. Other friend’s children had phones stolen and money stolen.

A Few basic rules
never leave a drink unattended
do not bring expensive phones and if they do mind them.
stick together and share their location

And make sure she has insurance

Isn’t Magaluf one of the resorts with alcohol sales restrictions now?
( this may be a good or bad thing depending on the group’s intentions )

When DD went we had her friends numbers, and they all had each others parents numbers in their phones. Very useful and was needed on one occasion. Numbers deleted after the holiday.

Tell them they must use the safe in the room (give them money for it if you have to). That way the basics like passports are kept safe so they can get home (they thought they might save money and just carry their passports around).

A ‘safe word’ if they need to text you for more money (less needed if you know friends numbers but helps you know you are not being scammed).

Oh and they have to stick together. One home all home

I've been dreading this moment since she was young - letting her go off with her mates but i always knew it would happen one day - to be fair they are all pretty sensible - it's just I went to Magaluf when i was her age and tbh went a bit wild !! - fortunately there were no camera phones back then so it wasn't all over social media - although I was mortified when i found a few clips of me on the internet years later :(

To be fair DD was probably more responsible than on a normal night out because she knew we weren’t just a phone call away. Warn her about fake vodka etc and if it’s too good to be true it probably isn’t worth drinking it
