Hello all,

I am taking my DH away for his birthday (weekend) in February to Budapest. We will be there Friday to Sunday.

We are staying at the very cool W Hotel! A first for us.

Can anyone recommend activities to do or places to visit?

many thanks!

Don’t leave Budapest without visiting one of the thermal spas! Szechenyi Thermal Bath is amazing!
Take tram 2 for a scenic tour of the city.
There’s a great wine tasting place but can’t recall the name.
Pack lots of layers, it can be extremely cold!

Thanks both - I am definitely taking thermals with me!!!

Gellert spa was lovely, very grand! The markets are good, indoor too so you'll keep warm. Margaret island is lovely, the musical fountains especially. Eat out in the Jewish quarter. We went to a lovely restaurant there, I'll see of i can find the name.

You must have langos too, this place is cheap and quick but in the middle of tourist central.

Gellert spa, get a massage while you are here. New York cafe is amazing you have to book. See the Holocaust , not just the Danube shoes but the one where the ghetto was, very moving. We did a night tour on the Danube, very lovelely with dinner. The garden cafe and restaurant is gorgeous too.

Gellert baths are currently closed for refurbishment. Suggest you go to Szechenyi or one of the smaller baths such as Rudas. I used to live there and it is one of my favourite places - my apartment was right next to Parliament and it was amazing to come out and see it every morning.
