Has anyone flown recently from Malaga?

If so, do they still have the 100ml liquid in a plastic bag rule? Electronics in or out of your hand luggage? And were you delayed due to introduction of the new fingerprinting thing which I understand is being phased in. Thanks.

We were there two weeks ago. Yes to liquids in a bag and electronics out. No fingerprinting was happening when we were there, though.

Thank you - I’ll pack accordingly then. It was great coming out through Birmingham and being able to bring my own drinks through but I had a feeling it was probably still the 100ml rule here .

The 100ml thing is still an EU-wide rule, even if the airport has the new scanners where your liquids and electronics stay in the bag. Those scanners are designed to allow for you to take up to 2 litres per container, but shortly after they were installed a bug was found. Several UK airports have now had upgrades and let you take 2 litres, others haven't. I assume the EU will give a green light soon since the machines all use the same technology.

Regarding EES (fingerprinting etc), all Spanish airports are phasing it in. Menorca was 4 November, Mallorca will be 19 November. So you might encounter it at Malaga. Not much you can do other than to grab the first kiosk that you see. Hopefully if the flights arriving from the UK are reasonably spaced apart the people from one flight will be through before the next one arrives - that's going to be a problem in the summer, I think.

thanks - @samarrange
we arrived on Monday and just went through with passport stamp as usual. It was very quiet . Just wondering what we are likely to encounter on our way back today .

Apparently EES is particularly entertaining if you enter without biometrics and then enter after they are introduced. Fingers crossed - please keep us posted!

We are now down by the gates - very early! As advised by our airline we came directly from security to passports, no queue and just stamped as usual. Oh well, better a boring wait than a panic and running.

do you mean you’ve got flights to Malaga and you’ve got a hotel in Malaga?

Ok, Cordoba is an hour away on a modern train line and there’s the old town area called La Juderia with the Mesquita.

The train that runs along the south coast is cheap, Benalmadena has a cable car up to views of the entire coast line.
Hire a car and visit Ronda and walk the Caminito del Rey ( book in advance ) , you can do both in a day if you want.

Great thank you.

Try and book a table at El Pimpi. Excellent tapas but hard to get in unless booked in advance.

Have a look at the Edible Reading blog's guide to eating out in Malaga for suggestions beyond El Pimpi...
