Looking put together on holiday

I’m away on a family one so in and out of pool with kids. Some ladies seem to look to out together, any tips? I won’t be wearing make up at the pool but just not to look a frizzy haired mess but still have fun.

I think it’s all about the prep before you actually go on holiday - getting toned, exfoliated, waxed, nails done, eyelashes tinted, planning outfits that co-ordinate etc…

Working with what you’ve probably brought with you, here are three tips:

Slick your hair back with leave-in conditioner to avoid frizz on pool days.

Wear one colour head to toe, or toning colours in muted shades rather than bright tropicals.

Stop looking at other women and enjoy your holiday!

The leave in conditioner thing sounds good.

thank you not spending too much time looking it’s just that there are lots of Russians here and they always look so effortless and their kids in beautiful outfits too. We are casual people and want to stay that way but the hair frizz is bad I never normally suffer with it. I think maybe the water is too soft I’m used to awfully hard water in England.

I take quite a limited colour palate on holiday. So like a capsule wardrobe and it’s navy blue, black, white and tan. I have found this has made me look more together because it matches no matter what I wear that day.

(I do add a couple of brighter dresses and a pair of khaki green shorts).

I also use a colour protective mask on my hair, if I am going swimming, so combing that through and tying it back has a double effect of protection and conditioning. Which makes a difference later after I’ve washed it.

See I actually blame my husband for this. When we were packing he said why are you packing all plain colours put something bright in 😂😂😂 will twist my own mind this time.

Got most of that done. Lost 10 lbs this year and been gymming 3/4 times a week - BMI down from 24 to 22 and can see muscles. Didn’t manage the lash tint as ran out of time but will defo do that next time. I might even try a Brazilian blow dry next time

Fuck it I’ll just crack on with the cocktails and ignore the mirrors then 😂😂😂

These concerns can go too far!

I once saw a beautifully turned-out woman by the pool. Slim, elegant, lovely string bikini and her silky hair was done up in a nice top-knot. We were walking past so I saw all this in quite close detail.

We got ourselves settled and I glanced back over, only to see her tucking her hair into a clear plastic hotel shower-cap before slowly lowering herself into the water. It rather spoilt the effect!

Just avoid anything too garish and you’ll be fine.

That's the spirit 😂 I am just back from holiday and the European women just swish about in their kaftan cover ups looking amazing, whereas I was a frizzy troll😀

That is actually tragic - I would feel sorry for her.

should say as well husband is very casual so we have had a laugh about the poor men waiting whilst these women get ready in full make up for the pool. I don’t want to be like that but the hair thing is annoying me!

might have a hotel blow dry one day

i think us women are over critical of ourselves like I would never want my daughter hearing my thoughts or lack of confidence. That should be a lesson in itself to me.

Hotel blow dry sounds a great holiday treat! I’m imagining you sitting there with your cocktail while you get your hair did 😄
