more!

FloridaKbear · 05/06/2008 13:05

Where to start?

Hotel - Port Orleans Riverside - wonderful, perfect.

Disney make it so easy to get around the parks with the transportation, buses, boats, etc. We didn't bother with a car at all.

It was a dream come true really, not a negative thing to say.

And we came home with money! Cheaper than we anticipated.

But boy it's hot. 97 degrees when we left yesterday.

Look forward to hearing about it - I have just posted on the other thread to you.

Key is do not nap today - but just to go to bed early.

Riverside is lovely. Not a trace of Mickey Mouse (only in the gift shop!), the food court is reasonably priced and the rooms, well, we just spent 3 weeks there and didn't crack up! You're hardly in your room (beautifully airconditioned by the way) so just getting ready to go out then falling into bed when you get back isn't a problem. Big comfy beds too. Daily maid service. There was pool outside our building, it's divided into houses with about 30 rooms in each, set in lush grounds, with rabbits hopping about and tiny lizards with quiet pools every now and then to swim in, as well as the big main pool with the bar etc. You can also hop on the boat to the next resort which is Port Orleans French Quarter, which is smaller, and use their facilities, great pool etc.

I knew this holiday would be good but it exceeded every expectation I had.

I could go on for ever about, and I probably will ha ha!!

I loved not having to cook, shop for food or clean up after meals!! What a treat. The food was great everywhere we went. All Disney restaurants can be pre-booked, we went to Planet Hollywood a couple of times which had a great atmosphere and Rainforest Cafe for our last dinner which was $105 for 4 of us and included the most ENORMOUS desert you have ever seen - the Volcano! So £50... would cost triple that in London.

And I stood on Cocoa Beach and watched the space shuttle take off last Saturday - how amazing was that!

we went to the shuttle launch pad 2 years ago. The countdown had started and then STOPPED! There was a thunder storm 5 miles out so it didn't take off

Glad you had a good time

mumclaire · 05/06/2008 18:43

Argghh you are making me so
We got back from wdw a month ago and I'm still pining I WANT TO GO BACK. We got very close to buying one of the vacation club villas

bellavita · 05/06/2008 18:50

FloridaK - you'll be telling us next that you have already booked to go back again next year

FloridaKbear · 05/06/2008 19:24

DH ("I'm never going to America") was the first one to mention going back again, he LOVED it. I calmed him down and told him we'd better get our arses back to work first and settle the bill for this trip! ha ha

I have nothing but praise for Disney, it really isn't cheesy Disney "let's all be happy and sing all day" at the hotel, once you're out of WDW or any of the other parks it's just like a regular hotel but with the extra special treatment that Disney provides. Nothing is too much trouble for them, honestly, they bend over backwards to make your stay enjoyable and if that false and fake I don't care, works for me!

Can't see the kbear's spending too much time in a wet tent in Weymouth any more after that trip!!
