Hotel in Brussels?

Can anyone recommend a hotel for me and ds8 in Brussels? We're happy with a premier inn level hotel, we don't mind, but because it's just the 2 of us and I don't know Brussels at all I'd appreciate some recommendations of safe areas. We're not planning to be out till midnight but we might want to be walking home at 9pm when it's dark.

We're arriving by Eurostar and planning to visit the Atomium and mini Europe.

Thank you

Novotel and Ibis Grand Place are both fine and not normally too expensive. They are 5 mins from Central Station in one direction and the Grand Place in the other. It's the central tourist area so not at all dodgy. Would avoid staying near Gare du Midi. Metro station also right there. I live in Brussels if you want any tips about anything.

We recently stayed at the Aris it’s one street behind the Grand Place and lots nearby to see and do

My nephew wanted to join us on our trip so we were looking for a family room for 3 which turned out to be quite tricky to find.

We ended up in the Meininger hotel which is sort of youth hostel like, but really nice. Comfortable, excellent breakfast. The more central none, not the one near the train station.

We're off today to visit the atomium, mini Europe and a train museum.

Tomorrow we're hoping to get to the Waterloo battlefield then the Eurostar home.

I have stayed at the Novotel and it is just a short walk from the Grand Place in a safe area. The Ibis is near there too.

Would not bother with visiting inside the Atomium.

I like the Novotel by Gare Centrale. Your Eurostar tickets allow you to get train for free from Midi to Central Station. 5 min journey. Safe area near Grand Place and pretty covered arcades and the royal park and Magritte museum.

Novotel also good for family rooms.

Spot on. Lived there and have also stayed at the Novotel which I’d recommend. Ixelles area is also nice if you don’t mind being further out.

Whoops, too late!

Going inside the Atomium is pretty much the entire reason we're in Brussels 😀
Ds thinks it's super cool and has wanted to see it for ages

Nooooo, inside the Atomium is worth it just for the escalator, though admittedly the expo is pants.

We stayed in Crowne Plaza.

I can confirm that if you are 8 years old the Atomium is amazing. I felt a bit dizzy with all the lights tbh but they wanted to go round again
