i found i could only just-with a struggle!-fasten my seatbelt on a Thomson flight last year. surely this happens to other people?

can you get a seat belt extension (mention as you get on) & lift up the armrest?

cutekids · 03/06/2008 09:46

someone on another thread says she always asks for one...how discreet are they though?

Not width-wise no. But my legs don't fit - it can be agony if you are in a plane seat for too long. I can see that you wouldn't have to be that big not to fit in one of those seats though - they aren't over-generous.

Not sure CK - on your other thread sitting together a prob for us but people do move when faced with sitting next to a little one who has to hold a sick bag.

I find it a squeeze to be honest and it puts me off a little bit (must diet and stop making excuses to myself). I've seen staff handing extenders out but always assumed they were special child harnesses or something. I'll be watching this thread though.

I meant to add that I once managed to just do the seatbelt up by doing it up under my tummy over the top of my thighs where I'm ever so slightly narrower. And also that once I didn't do it up but put it over my lap and put my jumper over the top and lied to the stewardess that it was done up. Bad me

I always have to ask for extension and feel like such a fat pig. they are fairly discreet but still find it awful! I am sure more people do have to ask than are admitting it on here!!!
Another thing I hate is extra large cuff/leg cuff that nurses etx use to measure blood pressure...
Was not allowed on ride at Alton Towers after long wait. Pretty humiliating!
I have yet to break a chair...
I am 5ft 10 and a size 26 so pretty big all around but I was once told that means more of me to love!!!

I just took some Ryanair flights and asked for a seatbelt extension. I am very large normally anyway, but was also 28 weeks pregnant at the time so there is no way a regular seatbelt would have fit.

Is it discreet? The answer is no. It is bright orange and is basically the same thing as the strap you use if you have an infant on your lap. I definately saw a few people pointing and staring.

I have not had to use one yet when not pregnant, but it is a very tight squeeze. I make sure I am always sitting next to one of my children so that I have extra space to spread out and can put the arm rest up too.
