Hello, looking to holiday in Italy next year. 2 families with young adult children. I've only been to Italy twice, to Rome and the Lido de Jesolo and am looking for advice on areas please. Would like to rent a villa but somewhere close enough to an area with some nightlife and a bit of a buzz for the younger generation to go out in the evening. Have absolutely no idea which part of the country to begin searching and was hoping some of you might have suggestions please. So far have looked at Puglia briefly. Thankyou

Near Ravenna / Rimini.

Cheesy nightlife and beach at Rimini for the youngsters.

Ravenna and Bologna trips for the beauty.

San Marino to go to an entirely separate country within Italy and get the passport stamp.

I’d say Lake Garda, because there’s so much to see and explore, and it’s so easy to get around. Desenzano has the most vibrant night life, I believe. Loads of nice bars till late. Some larger ones and some smaller hidden away cocktail bars.

Desenzano was surprisingly hopping! Lots of stag / hen parties at the weekends. Lots of places to eat / drink and easy to get round the southern part of the lake by ferry. Monopoli in Puglia is lovely and has lots bars and restaurants - beaches you have to go out of town for really though. We went to Tropea (Calabria) in May and that was great - very pretty and apparently gets busy in the summer. There are lots of villa rentals etc on the road to Capo Vaticano. We are going back to Calabria next week - Pizzo - we also went there in May but it was a lot quieter. Food was amazing.

For Puglia, I’d suggest you rent a villa near Gallipoli, and plan evenings around there. It’s really buzzing and full of young Italians. All the clubs will be outside the town though, either on the beaches or in the middle of nowhere in the countryside, so a car is a must.
