I am considering benalmadena for may half term, I've never been so would love to hear from others who have! Is there much to do for kids? We are looking at the hotel best triton and it looks lovely but my kids don't like sitting around the pool all day

We stayed in Polynesia hotel i think. It had a separate water park across the road from the hotel! We went dolphin spotting on a boat, to the zoo and on a day trip to Torremolinos. We went for 4 nights and had a great time !

We went to Selwo marina which was good. Its an aquarium and has penguins!

We went a few years ago, just random pick of Spanish holiday. We went to the caves at Nerja, to Gibraltar and up on the cable car to the falconery. We had a hire car for a couple of days and went to Rhonda and to Grenada. Great week.
(edited for auto-correction fail!)

We went in April 2010. It rained every day and there were no activities for kids at all. I assumed all the kids clubs would move indoors or have a back up plan for poor weather but the organisers just kind of shrugged and said everything was outdoor/pool based and they weren't used to bad weather. They didn't even show kids films in the cinema room (just football and Eastenders). It was honestly the worst holiday we have ever had. We stayed at the Tui Holiday Village. The food was dire as well.

April would be very risky weather wise, but May half term should be good weather. We went a few years ago and DS and his partner went this year.
It's a great location, near airport, Málaga and all along that coast. There's a castle, a waterpark in Torremelinos which is next door. Not been with small children but it seemed like a good all round resort. It merges with Torremelinos so you could look at hotels there as well. If you look on Google maps there's a few seafront ones overlooking a big beach.

It’s a bit like Blackpool. Not my thing at all but if that the kind of thing you like go for it.
There are so many nicer places along that stretch of coast.

Yes went to a Water Park hotel with family and friends. Everyone that swam in the pool got D and V! Sad

Not stayed actually in Benalmadena but I know the area. There is a marina at Benalmadena which would offer boat trips, plus a small sea-life type place. Just outside Benalmadena there is a crocodile park, plus cable car up the hillside near what I think is a water park. Mini golf in Benalmadena plus another one about two miles away at Torremolinos.

For getting around, Ubers are very easy, public transport is also quite easy and efficient. There is a small area with a few fair rides at Fuengirola (bus or train). Oh, a big wheel at Benalmadena by the Marina. If any of you are looking for something more cultural, you could get the train into Malaga where there is a cathedral, palace and museums. I also like the hop-on-off bus, there is one in Malaga and also a Benalmadena one, although I’m not sure what benefit that has over the normal bus. There is a very long stretch of beach (miles) so games on the beach, plus a very long walkway alongside goes right past Torremolinos with shops and cafes along the way. I don’t know how old your DC are but I think it’s a good place for family holidays, although you may also find a few hen/stag parties as well.

We got the bus into Mijas, in the mountains. The view was amazing with lovely bar/restuarant to sit and see the views.

I like Benalmadena. Lovely flat promenade to walk along, the zoo in fuengirola is nice, trip to Mijas. Easy to get around by public transport.

We went when our DC were younger and it was their stand out holiday of doing so much. We did the marina, Tivoli world at night, the cable cars, a crocodile park, a day at Mijas , a day trip to Gibraltar and they had a gorgeous park there. It was a fabulous holiday for children.
