Christmas in Tenerife - has anyone done it?

Hi all
I'm done with the traditional family Christmas. It's so much hard work and with some family issues I'm always left feeling sad.
So I want to get away this year with hubby and the teenagers.
We thought Tenerife as hopefully the weather would be good.
Has anyone done it?
How can I still make it special for the kids?
Are the hotels fully staffed for everything?
We want to go all inclusive and just chill.
Would there be anything open nearby? Watersports, shops, restaurants.

So nervous about doing it but I just know I don't want to do the same thing as every other year.

Any tips greatly appreciated

I’ve done it on a different island. Everything open, also on Christmas Day. Do it!

I’d do Dubai if you can afford it

We went to Tenerife for Christmas and New Year two years ago. Loved it.
We stayed in Los Cristianos at the Paradise Park Hotel. We stayed there as they have an adults only rooftop pool. Loads going on in the hotel.

The main pool was heated. Entertainment was the usual stuff but we don't really watch it. We had 2 weeks of stunning sunshine but it was chillier at night.

The bars were buzzing and the resort had a great feel. Party night for New Year and amazing fireworks.

We would do it again in a heartbeat but I have elderly parents and felt guilty.

I’ve done it. I thought we would still celebrate Christmas but it was so hot and just like a sun holiday that we didn’t! Lots of restaurants had decorations and were doing Xmas lunch but it was the last thing we felt like eating.

It’s great if you don’t want to do Christmas. I was in a couple but With a young family I would rather be at home.

Hi , we’ve just booked Tenerife for Christmas and can’t wait get away it’ll be the first time we’ve done it , it’s ruffled a few feathers in the family but life is too short to please everyone , every year we talk about it but never did it so it’s all booked we fly out on Boxing Day
Go for it

We've been to Egypt for Xmas the last couple of years with older teens. Love it. The hotel puts on a big dinner and entertainment on Xmas Eve for the tourists as obviously they don't celebrate Xmas. We are usually exhausted at that time of year due to other things in our life and just collapse out for a week.
To us it's lovely being somewhere without all the fuss and excess where we can just chill together.

I would like to go away but the temperature in Tenerife can be up and down, I’d rather go to Dubai/ Mexico / Caribbean/ Maldives x

@Loulou1969 you will love it. We had glorious weather when we went, we were so lucky. We would do it again in a heartbeat

We did it last year and loved being in shorts and vest on Xmas day, had a walk along the front on Xmas day and it was buzzing a lovely atmosphere, stopped for a couple of drinks along the way didn’t want a traditional Xmas dinner (don’t have them in the uk anymore either) so had a gorgeous Paella for our Xmas meal.

unfortunately we didn’t like our hotel so we’re going to Lanzarote next year (home this year as it’s our Xmas with the DSC - although I think they’re going to their mums as she does traditional Xmas dinner!)

I stayed in an apartment in Tenerife for one Christmas and New Year. Relatives had a few other apartments nearby, we booked a Christmas lunch in a restaurant and then jumped in a freezing cold pool together, it was great fun!
