Where in Rhodes?

Hi looking to go to Rhodes mid October for a week. Will be with DS aged 11 and 14. Had initially thought we’d go to Lindos as it looks beautiful but I’ve read a few comments saying the beach and town can get crowded which had put me off a bit.
Ive also looked at Kalithea as thought it might be a good place to then hire a car and get to Lindos and Rhodes town but I’m not sure there’s a centre to it??
Wanted to avoid any man made resorts (Ixia being one I think?) but also need there to be enough to do for my children.
Anyone recommend where might be a good location and whether Lindos or Kalithea could be the better option?

If you were thinking lindos then what about lardos/pefkos? Close enough to be able to spend days in Lindos if you wanted.
what kind of activities are you wanting for the kids? Hotel with facilities or things in local area? I know Faliraki has a bad rep but the beaches are stunning and there’s plenty for teenagers to do. Very well linked for Rhodes town/kalithea as well

I think at that time of year you need to be on the Lindos side, I don’t think it will be crazy busy in mid October as the temperatures are not that high usually.

We really like Lindos and have been a couple of times in August. The thing is because no cars can drive into the town it never feels horrible even when busy because there's no traffic. I would also imagine it would be much less busy in October when all the schools in Europe will be back. Stay in the little town if you can. it's really nice to wander, we get a cheap airbnb.
You could stay a few days in Rhodes town which has lots to see and do and then get the bus to Lindos and stay there for the rest of your time. That's what I'd do - I haven't been to Kalithea though.

We stayed in Pefkos which pleased our 16 and 20 year old last year. Walkable, beach, plenty of bars and restaurants and they loved the cats! You can book a boat trip on the beach ( reasonable price) or jet skis.
I reckon Rhodesia town would also be good because you have a good beach there and all the bus links for the rest of the island.
Lindos is nice, but I was glad we hadn’t based ourselves there because it was so busy and crowded .

Lindos, always, it won’t be that busy by then.

I thought Lindos was great and didn’t seem crowded on the beaches. There’s plenty of others nearby if you have a car.

A couple of days in Rhodes itself is also worthwhile.

Thanks everyone. I hadn’t thought about splitting our time between Rhodes town & Lindos so that could be a possibility. It’s good to know the centre of Lindos is pedestrianised so no traffic.
I wasn’t sure about Pefkos - think I’d read it was a man made resort but I could be totally wrong about this.
