Croatia with teens

We are a family of 5 with 3 teenage girls, looking for a holiday in Croatia for August 2026 and feeling very overwhelmed!

We don’t want all inclusive, just b&b, don’t want young kids about and happy with just a basic pool but would like a resort that is walkable from the hotel with a beach, marina, markets, little shops, nice bars, restaurants etc a bit of a vibe for our kids but relaxing for us. Happy to have 2 rooms as well

we are looking at Makarska as a resort but just open to suggestions of great hotels that you have been to

Just down from Makarska is Podgora- we stayed at the Medora Auri in 2023 and it was lovely.

Cavtat near Dubrovnik. Hotel Croatia.
Beautiful hotel within walking distance of the little town of Cavtat where there are lots of little bars and restaurants and you can sit in a cafe/bar on the promenade and watch the millionaire’s yachts come in. Sea view rooms offer spectacular views and the sunsets are fabulous.
Sea is clear and safe for swimming/snorkelling/watersports although the beaches are rocky. You can get a boat or a bus to Dubrovnik cheaply (takes about 15-20 mins on the bus).
The hotel is at the top of a steep hill - but there is a complimentary golf buggy service if needed.
