Holiday in January

Hi all. We were supposed to go to Australia this Xmas for couple of weeks but it fell through as the friend I was visiting isn't well

So looking for a winter holiday break in the sun for a week /10 days( including travel) in January to make up for it for 2 adults. Happy to do reasonably long flight.
Ideally not spending a fortune as putting the £ saved from Oz to a future visit

Have done canaries and Egypt recently so not those really.

Could do with some inspiration please as not really done winter sun before
Not that keen on cruises unless a smaller boat
TIA

Sri Lanka, Thailand or Kerala would be my top choices.

That's a great time of year to go to any Caribbean island/cruise.

Goa is lovely then.

Mexico is guaranteed sunshine at that time of year and is pretty reasonable. The area around Tulum has a mix of gorgeous beaches and a few days of sightseeing

Friends of ours went to Dubai around Christmas/January and loved it

Singapore or Kuala Lumpur for 3 nights and a week in Langkawi in Malaysia.

TizerorFizz · 23/08/2025 00:27

South Africa. Night flights there and back. Cape Town and Garden route would be perfect. .

Fiona1985 · 23/08/2025 01:01

Zanzibar? You could combine with a safari in the serengeti.

TizerorFizz · 23/08/2025 17:50

Zanzibar requires 2 flights so not great for less than 2 weeks. SA could all be done from Cape Town depending on route.

Twilightstarbright · 24/08/2025 17:40

Gambia, Senegal, Maldives?

sleepwouldbenice · 24/08/2025 23:12

Will have to look at the flight times for some of these but thanks again 4 all the ideas!
