Looking for some inspiration for summer 2026. The last few years we have done euro camp type holidays in The Netherlands and this year an apartment in Germany. We love the flexibility of these types of holidays with teens but the weather has typically been a bit mixed. Looking to next year I really like the look of Croatia. I’ve been looking at some of the eurocamp sites and wondered if anyone had any first hand experience of them? Did you hire a car to make exploring easier? Thanks in advance

Croatia is fab - I went near Pula but in an apartment. Car was essential - we didn't arrange one, thinking we'd use public transport but it was so unreliable we hired a car on day 2. Lots of interesting places to explore.

We hired a car and travelled through Croatia with about 6 different stops (came from Italy and through Slovenia too). It was a lovely country but I think I'd have been a bit bored basing myself in one place. We only went down as far as Zadar but if I'd had time, would have loved to go all the way down the coast.

Currently in Croatia on holiday staying in Istia in a villa booked through Vintage Travel. Istria is unbeliably lovely. I can't believe we've never been before as we love Austria and Italy. Lovely towns and villages. The food is incredible, as are the local wines. Lots of waterparks near by, and lots and lots of stuff to do. We flew to Slovenia to Ljubliana, and are opening a few days there on the way back. Plenty of supermarkets near by. The only thing is the mosquitoes! We've all been terribly bitten! I think as we are stying inland a bit, and it was a bit wet when we arrived they all came out!
