Cheap UK break on train route

Hi any ideas for a cheap holiday on the train route between London and Cornwall? 2 nights mid week in August.
Looking for a smaller town for cheaper price airbnbs as Bristol, Taunton prices are crazy
Any suggestions would be much appreciated, thanks 😊

I'd say Castle Cary, which would be a reasonably easy couple of stops away from one of the main stations en route. Somerset is not that easy (in my researches anyway) for nights below a week in the summer, though - that said, my hope is for a self-catering place and hotels may be a better bet.
