Same place twice?

We've just returned from a lovely holiday. The hotel was perfect, there were lots of lovely places to eat and loads to do. The hotel was probably the nicest one we've stayed in. We are just browsing for next year. There are so many lovely places and we've never returned to the same hotel twice but we are seriously considering it this time. Have you/would you go back? Going away is so expensive and there is always a gamble with going somewhere new but there are so many places to try!

Ive gone to the same country and used the same hotel but as a base for a different type of holiday than the previous ones.
Ive also stayed in the same hotel with a different group of people at different times so the holiday has had a different vibe.
Years ago when the kids were small I would take them to the same McDonalds hotel for skiing but it wasn't our main holiday.

I agree - if you are basically looking for a nice place to relax then going back to the same place makes sense. If you go on holiday to explore new places, experience different cultures etc then returning to the same place isn't very appealing.
