Middle East tensions (Dubai)

OK, so I think I already made my mind up what I plan to do, but just throwing it out there.

I'm traveling with my 2 boys (16 and 12)in February to Australia. We planned to stay in Dubai for 2 nights on the way. I have heard its fine for women and children and people report feeling very safe there. We thought we'd take the chance to spend a couple of days looking around.

I've heard about flights being cancelled/delayed etc, and am now a bit concerned. February is obvious a long way away, and things may bd better, or a whole lot worse by then!

Would you scrap Dubai, and just go straight through to Australia?

Who knows what the world will be like in February but the UAE is generally pretty safe.

It’s mad to be worrying about Feb in June! I am
in Australia at the moment having stopped over in Dubai at the weekend. I was there the day the US attacked Iran as well and it was all fine. We are stopping back there again on our way home next week and I am not worried at all. Honestly, you will love it. The people are very friendly, there is so much to do and the weather is scorching!

@SummerEve That's reassuring! We are transiting through Dubai in a couple of weeks and I'm keeping my fingers crossed that none of the crazies escalate the situation further before then. My worries are specifically about flight delays, missing connections and the (hopefully tiny) possibility of flights turning back - saw something on social media about this happening?

Yes I sat up half the night in our hotel room switching between the news and Flight Radar! It all seems like nothing ever happened now though. I will keep you updated.

Thank you all, I have booked the flights. We are going to Perth, then Dubai for a mini break on our way home 😊

@TerrificEchidnaSpikes Hello! I am typing this out as I am at Dubai airport, having flown from Hong Kong and now awaiting my connection to Heathrow. It’s all good here - calm, relaxed and no concerns whatsoever. Even though it’s nearly half midnight the airport is busy. Hope this helps 🙂

TerrificEchidnaSpikes · 04/07/2025 10:58

Thanks @SummerEve! Only a week to go and we'll passing though there :)

I hope you have a wonderful time! Back home now and it feels like the last 2 weeks have all been a dream 😴

For those of you traveling through/to Perth/Dubai, how is it going?

TerrificEchidnaSpikes · 13/07/2025 23:59
