October - November Holiday Ideas

I'd be grateful for any suggestions for a holidays of around 10 days in October or November.

It's for me and DH and we are looking to spend up to around £5.5k.

We had wondered about Costa Rica, or a safari type holiday, but I think they are proving too expensive.

We have a safari quote which is almost on budget, but when I look at the accommodation for the safari and for some beach time at the end, it's not got the best reviews and I feel realistically, maybe we just don't have the budget for this.

We would like something that involved wildlife watching or similar, we like hiking (not climbing!) and we don't fancy too much city time as a lot of recent holidays have involved this. Potentially some beach time, but not too much as we get bored quite easily and we're not really water sports people other than maybe paddle boards/kayaks and a bit of snorkelling!

Any ideas would be gratefully received as we've never been on holiday at this time of year before so are a bit lost!

Have you considered the Canary Islands? They’re a fantastic option in October or November with reliably warm weather, and might suit your budget better than a long-haul safari. Tenerife, La Palma, and Gran Canaria all have surprisingly good hiking (volcanic landscapes, lush forests, coastal paths) and unique wildlife, especially birds and marine life.

I’ve been looking at nairobi (cheaper for safari than Tanzania) then flying to Mombasa for a few days then flying from there to Zanzibar.

If you book your flights, accommodation & excursions separately you’d be able to do it within budget.

@DorkingChicken1 thank you - that's a good idea actually. We've only been to Tenerife years ago when DD was little, so more of a beach holiday. I'll look into it.

@Kioki thank you. I'd not really thought about booking things separately. Do you have any recommendations for companies to book the excursions with at all? We've never done a holiday like this before!

Barbados or Aruba? Technically hurricane season but v unlikely (don’t think Barbados has had one in decades and Aruba is outside of the hurricane belt).

Oman is meant to be beautiful.
