I don't know any actual resorts but Chania in Crete fits the bill in other respects

We recently came back from Atlantica holiday resort in Kolymbia. Absolutely fantastic! Stunning mountain surroundings, 30 minutes away from the airport, a beach 10 minute walk away, and easy access to the old town and other main tourist hotspots. It’s not the cheapest, but it’s giving five star resort. Oh, and a waterpark on site the teenagers will LOVE! X

The type of AI that compares price wise with self catering isn't the same experience though. Meals from a buffet rather than a la carte. Plus if you want to eat while out and about you'd either have to pay or ask for a picnic to take with you. Or go back to the hotel for lunch. So all sounds a bit of a faff and a lot less freedom.

People always say that eating out from little Greek tavernas is good value and when self catering you can always stock up with drinks snacks, ice creams and easy food for breakfasts and the odd lunch or dinner.

It would be a shame to miss out on wandering around seeing the sights and having a nice lunch in a picturesque location and instead have to queue up at a buffet 3 times a day. Or pay ££££s for a la carte AI.

All inclusive in Greece would be a huge mistake in my opinion.

im very lucky I get multiple holidays a year, I’ve been to Greece many, many times, I wouldn’t even consider all inclusive, every part of Greece I’ve ever been to has far too many good local tavernas to even consider it as an option in my opinion

Can I ask were the drinks proper branded ones or local cheap ones?

@Elgeniusdo you have any recommendations, looking at Greece, possibly island hopping next year.
