Would you detour on road trip?

We have a 3 week US road trip coming up for a big birthday
staying in 7 different locations so lots of moving round already.

on our last few days an 80s band I loved as a teen are playing 3 hrs away
we’ve already paid for our hotel so my options are:

don’t go and just enjoy the last few days of the trip
drive 6 hrs round trip
pay for another night in a hotel close to venue

WWYD????
thanks

Loving these responses thank you

looks like I’m off for a love bite so best pour some sugar on me 😂

Lol 👅

The hotel will almost certainly be able to change your booking with no penalty 72+ hours out (depending on their policy) if you booked directly, but if you booked via an OTA (eg Booking or Expedia) you’d have to go via that platform. If you prepaid on full, however, it’s likely a no-cancellation/no change booking.

Are they likely to tour the UK? I don't get your reference so I'm gonna assume I'm too young 😂😂 so "will I get a chance before one of them dies?" is a valid question to ask yourself.

If DH is up for it, go for it.

@princesspadam I loved them as a teenager but they’re no longer really a thing. Supposed to be good live.

Are there any recent reviews? Sometimes going back to something is not what you imagined it would be.

It's a lot of effort and re-jigging - I would try to check some recent chat or reviews.

I agree. I'd go if:

The main band members are still in the band
They are good live
The venue is good
I couldn't see them in the UK
I knew pretty much all their back catalogue and they weren't one hit wonders

What band is it?

CornishTiger · 31/05/2025 00:05

They’ve toured recently in Europe and did UK last year or year before.

They are on my list to see.

Go on be an Animal and enjoy the hysteria. :-)

And there was me thinking it was Duran Duran - who I would definitely go out of my way to see. They are als touring the US this summent are are still amazing live

CornishTiger · 31/05/2025 09:03

@cyclingmum67 Duran Duran have some Uk dates too.

DP not keen
thinks we’re doing enough and should stay where we planned for the last 4 days

6 hour round trip with an hotel is nothing?
Every Sunday ( usually) we drive to the coast or country ( 2 to 3 hours) ..have a few hours there.. pub lunch.
Drive 3 hours home.
It's nothing these days.
Definitely go and enjoy.
