we're going on holiday to the south of france next month - it will be the first holiday we've taken since DS has been able to crawl/pull himself up/generally get up to lots of mischief.
Any tips from more experienced parents about how to survive the plane journey and the car journeys(he hates sitting quietly these days....the actual time in the car and plane shouldn't be more than two hours each) and also what to bring to make life easier when we get to the other end?? we're self catering. What about safety plugs to cover French sockets - necessary? if so, where do you get them? what about travel black out blinds? all advice from those who've done it before gratefully received!

hi, not sure who you're flying with but we've travelled with 11m DS quite a bit. if you fly with easyjet or any other no seat allocation airline, put DS in the seat by the window, you take the middle seat, DH the isle seat and nobody will ask you to move DS. (unless the flight is full)

A bit sneaky, but it will give you break from have DS on your lap all the time.

It you fly with any other airline, just ask if they can block out the middle seat for DS.

For car journeys we put his buggy books on the car seat so that even when he gets fed up with them he can't throw them on the floor.

For elec sockets, you could stick plasters or tape over them if you can't find the 2 plug covers.

And don't worry about any routines. DS went completely out of the window, but now that we're back home he's slipped straight back into it.

Hope you have a lovely holiday.
