My daughter and I are due to go to Zanzibar at the beginning of July, normally extremely organised but failed to notice we need visas. I mean no problem I have enough time to get this sorted but also visitors are required to purchase Zanzibar travel insurance even if you have your own. Has anyone had any issues with this? Have they checked?

To be on the safe side I’ll buy but annoying when I already have an annual policy.

I just wondered other people’s experiences of entering the country, thanks!

From the Foreign and Commonwealth website on Tanzania.

All visitors to Zanzibar (excluding residents) must have mandatory Inbound Travel Insurance from the Zanzibar Insurance Corporation (ZIC) for the duration of their stay (up to 92 days).
You can only buy this insurance from ZIC. Other international travel insurance policies will not be accepted. Go to the Visit Zanzibar website for more information.
You may be refused entry if you do not have the correct insurance.
If you have any questions that are not covered on the website, contact ZIC by emailing [email protected].

https://visa.immigration.go.tz is the website re visas. It is no longer possible to obtain visas from the Tanzanian High commission in London.
