Menorca would be less chaotic with a young child

i love the isla del site in punta prima menorca. not flash but clean. low rise and colourful which is much if menorca. staff stay for years which is a good sign. pool nice size and not rowdy. apartments with SC facilities but can pay for breakfast in the restaurant. also can add in dinner on and as and when basis so good if you decide you cba to go further afield. sister hotel has a water park. bus stop nearby so very easy to get to mahon and other parts. walking distance to small town with nice beach size restaurants.
i did the first ever online shop delivered to my apartment there and staff were impressed. saves me lugging water, wine etc from the local shop. stocked up on snacks and things for the kids so saved a fortune.
there is a laundry as well so i only pack for 4 days and do a quick wash on day 3.
lots to do on the island if you do your homework. the food and culture is distinct from the rest of the baleriacs.
never seen a stag or hen do. never seen anyone puking drunk.
we love it but sadly can't go this year.

@artdecomirror

Just came across this thread and we have just booked a villa in punta prima today. Never been to Menorca before so interested in any recommendations you have for things to see/do?

artdecomirror · 17/05/2025 05:52

i guess it all depends what you are interested in.

we love history so have focussed on things around that.

there is the museum of menorca in mahon which is interesting and all the exhibits have english explanations. the harbour boat tour is good. there is an art gallery on the island in the harbour with a little cafe. we haven't yet done the old military hospital tour but plan to. there is also the xeorigieur gin factory walking distance from mahon centre (lots of free samples!).
there is a direct bus from punta prima that is very cheap.

ciutidella is beautiful and lovely just to wander round and have a relaxed lunch but is a bit more awkward to get go on public transport.

if you check online there are fiestas over the summer which are a great experience for immersing in the local culture.

we also like to visit a traditional menorcan bakery and pick up some local bits. they are dotted all around mahon.

punta prima itself is quiet but enough to fill an evening for a wander and variety of food. the beach can get busy during the day. there is a nice walk heading right away from the beach along the cliffs. there is a small playground for little children behind the main road.

the road train is fun for kids and we tend to take it to binibeca and have a meal at Bambu (booking essential!)

that's as much as we have done but there is still more to explore. i just love how low rise and relaxed the place is.

i can have a look at which online supermarket i used (one was much easier than the other) if you want to do that? there are the usual shops in punta prima but can be pricey and fresh choices variable. if you are hiring a car there is a l

Isla del Aire apartments in Punta Prima Menorca. You can get an amazing deal on BA and we were pleasantly surprised. Nice people, lovely pool. We went in October. I would pay for the ground floor. Lots of space. Really for the price it was great. Menorca also lovely.

couldn't agree more! now mine are bigger the downstairs works a treat as i can be in the apartment pottering on with lunch and mine can come and go from the pool no problem (swimming lessons up to lifeguard level and bigger than me so don't need supervision just before someone pearl clutches!)
