Passport - How far advance to apply?

Three of us in the family need new passports. We don't go away until July 2026.

I will have to do them individually because of the cost. I'm thinking if I do them too soon, a whole year will be wasted on them yet I would like them to start being sorted out in case of unexpected delays etc.

When will be best to start getting them done?

Thank you for your help.

I have ordered new passports for me, DD and DS in the last 2 years. The longest took 3 weeks. DD's took ust over a week.

So if you are going away July 2026 and want to spread the cost and also be 100% certain of having them all in time, I'd do one in early May 2026, one in early March 2026 and one in early January 2026.

My DH got his new passport through this week. It only took about a week to come through. He renewed online.
