I’ve done so much searching - it’s exhausting. Im
hoping you can help.

I’ve got 3 girls, 7, 5 and 6 months. We’ve recently been to an Iberostar and could not fault it. I think it’s made the search for a summer holiday even harder. We have to go during the school holidays.

We want to get away for 10-14 days. We don’t really mind where but have mainly been looking at Majorca, Greece and Turkey.

We have a budget of 5-6k. We don’t need mega slides as children are only young but they enjoy the pool and evening entertainment. And a nice mix of people. So far I’ve narrowed it down to:

Iberostar Club Cala Barca (mainly because it’s an Iberostar)
Zafiro Mesquida
Zafiro Can picafort
Sun Beach Resort (Rhodes)
Atlantica Princess Hotel (Rhodes)
Arcunus Hotels Sorgun (Turkey)
Barut b Suites (Turkey)

I’d appreciate any advice of either the above or a new recommendation.

Hoping you can help! Thank you!

Sorry, just realised you may be looking for summer holidays so will probably be more!

The Barut Collection hotels are fab, sometimes they have better discounts via Jet2 which would just about bring them into your budget for 10 days.

Rainbows2018 · 14/05/2025 20:07

@BarbaraVineFan yes, thank you. It was above budget.

@Tellmeagain the only ones in budget are Barut b suites and Barut Goia. Have you been to any of those?

Turkey is very hot in July and August.

Catwoman8 · 14/05/2025 20:18

If you like Iberostar, bougainville playa in Costa adeji Tenerife is a great one.

hurtingApril · 14/05/2025 20:23

I went to Iberostar Club Cala Barca last year and we loved it. I would definitely recommend and would return.

I loved Zafiro Can picafort.

I don't know the hotel but we loved the area. So suitable for small children.

I found Majorca in general absolutely brilliant with a toddler/5 year old.

ticktockali · 14/05/2025 20:37

Hillside Beach Club, Turkey. Full board Plus rather than all inclusive but best place ever

samarrange · 14/05/2025 23:17

I haven't stayed at Iberostar Cala Barca but I know the area quite well.

Pluses:

  • You can walk for 15 minutes through a nature reserve along the clifftops to Cala Mondrago, which I think is the nicest beach on Majorca.
  • You can also walk 20 minutes along the roads to Portopetro, which is a lovely, almost-unspoiled fishing town.

Minuses:

  • The hotel's "own" beach (all beaches are public, but 95% of people on it will be from the hotel) is not especially good. There's often quite a lot of "seaweed" (posidonia sea grass, which keeps the water clear but like everything else dies off occasionally) at the entrance to the water.
  • It's not the best base for touring. There is a bus that stops outside once an hour, but it only takes you to Cala d'Or. If you were to book a coach excursion it might well have the first pickup and the last drop-off.
GoldLash · 15/05/2025 20:00

I thought the small beach cove was very pretty at Cala Barca and never busy at all as most people stay around the pool with little ones. It is a bit stony walking in to the sea but we brought those swim shoes with us anyway. There are lots of trees to sit under.

we got a bus to Cala D’or which is lovely but the beach was absolutely packed. Every single inch. so I was really happy to go back to the Cala Barca beach to read and swim in peace whilst my DC hung out with other DC they met all day and night. Like I said there’s something for everyone.

there might have been some seaweed along the shore line at one point so not great for toddlers splashing about but for anyone else it was perfect.

GoldLash · 15/05/2025 20:04

Nice shops and restaurants at Cala D’or. It’s a very pretty town so well worth a visit

Rainbows2018 · 15/05/2025 21:56

Thank you @GoldLash and @samarrange thats so helpful of you. Everyone seems to talk highly of Club Barca so it seems like a good choice.

If anyone in the family objects, show them some pictures of Cala Mondrago!

GoldLash · 15/05/2025 22:14

TUI Blue Tropical
Holiday Village Turkey

Both 20 mins away from the airport. I’ve just search various dates in August and you can get 10-14 days below £6k for all four of you. There was one date from Manchester, for 10 days, which was £4.2k towards the end of the holidays, I’m not sure if it overlaps with school return time but worked for my dates due to inset days.

I loved Club Cala Barca, nice and spread out, great pools, gorgeous coast line!
Not sure on price but we stayed at Rodos Princess in Kiotari Rhodes last summer, gorgeous hotel, great food.
Iberostar Bouganville Playa Tenerife was really good, great food and entertainment.

We are looking at the iberostar in Tenerife. Found a video on YouTube and the pool sunbeds look super cramped together. Did you find that? Thank you

NeedthatFridayfeeling · 22/05/2025 08:51

@Circle25yes they were, we always tried to move ours away if we could by getting ones on the end of a row

Yeah that’s what worries me. Did it put you off going again?

NeedthatFridayfeeling · 22/05/2025 10:29

@Circle25No we’d definitely stay there again, it’s not ideal re the sunbeds being close but I’d deal with it.
We really liked the food/drinks/entertainment and our daughter loved the slides/kids club and mini disco.
