Greek islands

Hi there thinking of going to a Greek island in the summer . Did a cruise last year and loved seeing the smaller islands especially.
I was looking at Kefalonia or llefkada .
Any other suggestions?
I've been to Corfu Rhodes so would like to try somewhere else.

You can do a very easy island hop itinerary between Poros, Hydra, and spetses - alllovely - have been and stayed on all ( been to Hydra 6 times too on its own) fly to Athens then quick fastcat to Poros is 1 hr and then 30 minutes between the other islands. Not very sandy ‘beachy’ though although spetses has a few nice ones

What do you like from a holiday? I love Crete because there is so much history, things to see and do, but it's not the prettiest island (parts are stunning) , if you want real pure relaxation in a calm setting one of the smaller islands is probably better. Or do you like active/walking/snorkelling type holidays? We've been to Rhodes and whilst it was lovely there wasn't enough to do to keep us occupied for repeat visits, but everyone we have been to Crete we've stayed in a different part and seen and done different things.

A recommendation will really depend on what you like to do.

We are planning on taking our daughter with her toddler so ideally a fairly straightforward journey would be good. Might do those by ourselves as they sound lovely

Did you go to lefkada from Kefalonia via the ferry or vice versa they do day trips.
We adore Corfu.
We stay in Dassia/ Glyfada area so we can easily drive into Corfu town on an evening.
Corfu is stunning .. with it being an Ionian island it's very similar to Kefalonia and Lefkada.

@TheCurious0range yes I agree with that - the itinerary I suggested is more of a sit round pretty harbours noshing, drinking, chilling or swimming kind of holiday

We like history seeing sites . Getting out and about going out for lunch or a nice evening meal.
I did go to Crete about a million years ago so I'll look at that as well!

Santorini is good for that but does get incredibly packed - Crete and Rhodes as you say are decent for site seeing - Apart from that it’s better site seeing on the mainland in my opinion -

Corfu town is very nice in a ‘potter’ kind of site seeing way rather than specific sites and is easy to get too - resort wise I like kassiopi and sidari area - and of course is easy to get too without loads of faff

Skiathos is lovely, it’s very lush and green - and has it’s own airport so no messing about with ferries etc.

Skiathos is beautiful but it's a beach holiday destination. There are no ancient ruins, although there is a ruined castle. We toured to Skopolos and took trips to meteora, not if you're scared of heights, and Delphi.
