Croatia in May

DH and I have a big wedding anniversary next year May and we look to go away. He always wanted to go to Croatia but Summer heat isn't working for us so we think it's a good destination.

We have no idea where to start. We like walks (not too hilly unfortunately, I have a dodgy knee), discovering towns, history, wildlife. Not keen on a fly and flop one and no AI, we would like a resort on B&B basis within easy reach of a town with plenty of places to eat for dinner.

Plan is a mix of days out and lazy afternoons at a pool/garden.

No islands or boats as DH gets seasick on a small ferry, for the odd trip yes but not daily.

There are so many gorgeous towns in Croatia, it’s impossible to pick just one place! I like Cavtat, Omis, Sibenik and Makarska. From Makarska you could do day trips to Split, Omis, Mostar, and Kravica waterfall.
Sibenik is close to Krka National park and not too far from Split.

We based ourselves in Dubrovnik and hired a private driver to take us to Mostar (Bosnia-hotter) and Montenegro.

Absolutely stunning place.

We went near Dubrovnik in early may in 2019. It was freezing for most of it. Got slightly better towards the end of the week.

We hope to go the week before half term. But will check the average temperature

I stayed in Makarska and used buses to visit Split and Omis. It's a lovely area, plenty of nice walks and places to eat locally. It can be chilly in April/May with warmer days too.

B&B, sea view, ask for a mattress topper.
