Honeymoon inspiration - august

We are having a low key wedding in August and currently looking at booking our honeymoon. We have 7-10 nights and I would like to go somewhere you wouldn’t typically go.

my DP doesn’t want to do the Caribbean as it will be hurricane season, the Maldives is out as it’s the wettest month so just looking for some ideas if anyone has any?

Would like somewhere with nice beaches and bars/restaurants etc but wouldn’t rule out a city either, just after something that is a bit different than what we would usually do.

have priced up Mykonos/santorini but it is quite expensive for adult only and only bed and breakfast.

would be flying from Manchester and looking at around £5k budget

If you can stand the heat I would look for a nice hotel in Italy or Sicily.

In August, Central Vietnam is beautiful with blue skies and less rain.

We went to Bala (Wales!) a really luxe house with catering and pool. Mountains and lakes. Was different to what we’d usually do and very memorable.

We went to Mauritius in August a few years ago and it was perfect.

@FlowersinajarYes, but when I say in August I’m talking nearly 20 years ago! Just that we were there that time of year.
We did a week at a hotel called Saman Villas and then a 5 day tour with a driver.

You will get more for your money if you go late August / September, when the kids go back to school. I have heard great things about Sardinia lately, also look at Ksamil (?) in Albania. Sicily also gorgeous. Some of the very far flung destinations deserve more time than you’ve got, once you factor travel in.
